Mohammed works as a postdoctoral researcher at Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology, Lahti campus, Finland. He is currently pursuing another PhD with a focus on esports, titled "Enhancing Esports Ecosystems in the MENA Region: Leveraging Finnish Expertise and Support."
In December 2017, Mohammed received his first PhD in Gamification in Education from Helwan University, Egypt. His PhD research was shortlisted as a finalist for the "Outstanding Gamification Research" award at the Gamification Europe Conference in Amsterdam.
His research interests lie in esports, gamification, game accessibility, and the intersection of psychology and games. He is also interested in the integration of these areas with other technologies such as VR, AR, and AI.
His research has received funding from the Finnish Foundation for Economic Education (Liikesivistysrahasto).
